Position Overview:
Museum of Illusions is seeking a Technical Procurement Specialist to support both, our Procurement and R&D teams. As a Technical Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of goods while maintaining quality and compliance. Due to the technical nature of our projects, we are seeking a candidate with hands-on experience in technical procurement and a strong understanding of procurement processes in an environment involving prototyping, mechanical components, electronics, production materials, and specialized manufacturing services.
This role requires a technical background and the ability to understand technical specifications, materials, and production workflows.
What you would get to do:
- Manage end-to-end technical procurement of equipment, materials, components, and services required for exhibit development and prototype production
- Conduct supplier research, identify optimal technical solutions, materials, and vendors
- Prepare RFQs, gather and evaluate quotations, and assess technical and financial feasibility
- Monitor and optimize inventory levels for R&D materials, components, and consumables
- Create purchase orders, coordinate deliveries, and oversee incoming goods distribution
- Coordinate logistics between external suppliers, production partners, and internal locations (prototype lab, workshops, project teams)
- Handle administrative processing of invoices and ensure alignment with purchase orders
- Prepare reports and track R&D department budgets; support procurement planning
- Work closely with R&D engineers and designers to understand technical requirements and support efficient project execution
- Contribute to the improvement of internal procurement processes and warehouse operations
What you should bring along:
- High school diploma, associate degree, or university degree in a technical, or economics field (engineering background preferred)
- Previous experience in technical procurement is required, ideally in an R&D, prototyping, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, electronics, or similar technical environment
- Strong understanding of technical specifications, materials, components, and basic manufacturing processes
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office, especially Excel)
- Experience working with ERP systems is an advantage
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment
- Valid category B driving license
