Candidate Profile and Focus

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the museum overseeing staff recruiting, training, and scheduling, as well as museum maintenance and event execution. The Assistant General Manager also will participate in planning and implementing operations policies, procedures, and protocols.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interview, onboard, train and develop new museum staff. 
  • Implement training procedures for the museum location.  
  • Properly and efficiently schedule and staff the museum each day, based on museum-specific sales forecasts. 
  • Create and maintain employee scheduling – adjusting as needed, approving PTO/Sick and other various time and attendance requests/issues. 
  • Supervise and support the Shift Supervisors, ensuring their respective shifts operate efficiently and effectively. 
  • Maintain a high standard of guest experience, ensuring guest satisfaction and engagement. 
  • Monitor and maintain the museum's maintenance at all levels (cleanliness, exhibits, etc.). 
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed. 
  • Work with the General Manager to execute a strategic plan for the museum’s growth and sustainability.  
  • Alongside the General Manager, represent the museum in the community by forging relationships with local organizations, educational institutions, and business clients. 
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, follow through on issues promptly, and demonstrate forward thinking.  
  • Prepare and execute field trips, special events and influencer visits within the museum alongside Marketing and Sales.  
  • Work alongside Assistant General Managers from other museum locations to determine best practices. Provide individual coaching and support to employees.
  • Additional duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in the same or similar job with the same or similar key responsibilities. 
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within the entertainment industry 
  • Strong financial management skills with experience in budgeting and P&L responsibility. 
  • Ability to produce accurate results, analyze workflow, and set priorities to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse team. 
  • Knowledge of current best practices within the entertainment environment 
  • Understanding of marketing, sales, and visitor engagement strategies. 
  • Self-starter who is organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, responsive, and self-motivated. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

 Physical Requirements/Demands

  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to type on a keyboard, use a laptop and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to ascend/descend flights of stairs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, and squat.
  • Must be able to properly express oneself, exchange information, communicate and converse with diverse cultures, races, and sexes.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. 
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors.
